March 2016

Sadly, both of us showered and dressed at a decent hour is not normal around here, as of lately. Our normal attire is pajamas and messy hair ;) And Kayla normally takes a bath at bedtime, but on this day I gave her one during the day and was able to do her hair. I just couldn't get over how cute those little pigtails were!!

I love how long her hair is getting and the fact the I can do something with it. I feel like we're getting so close to being able to braid it ;)

We voted! It was a longgg wait and Kayla was such a good girl for us. She ended up with a few stickers. Perks to being so cute ;)

Kayla LOVES Elmo! And this one is just her size. I just had to snap a pic. She was devastated when I put it back on the shelf...

I mean we only waited until Kayla was almost 14 months old, but we finally got around to putting locks on the kitchen cabinets. It's so nice not dealing with her breakdowns because she gets in trouble for playing in the cabinets. Seriously, why did we wait so long?

The week before my birthday, Jacob won a dinner for 2 to a local steakhouse from one of the morning radio shows. He ALMOST kept it a secret to surprise me for my birthday. But he thought my birthday was on a Sunday, and decided to tell me because he didn't know if I'd rather go on Saturday or Monday. Well my birthday was actually on a Monday… A for effort ;) We ended up going out Saturday night and just celebrated my birthday for a couple of days. I wasn't even upset about that. Haha.

We found a cool little swing at one of the parks in town. Kayla really liked it. We actually went back last week and it's way too hot in my opinion to use it now, but it was fun while it lasted. Haha.

Celebrating my birthday with Jacob's family. He made me a cake. A pink one :)

She loves to take care of her baby doll. Here she's putting the little headband on it. What a sweetie!

Always trying to "help" me… ;)

So a while ago we found a burger recipe that we really liked. Jacob decided to make it again and went out to buy everything we needed. I went in the fridge and noticed something yellow under the package of cheese. Silly boy was trying to hide cookies from me...

Cute Kayla girl loves to sit on this ledge at Grandma and Papa's house

Free ice cream cone day at DQ. It was Kayla approved!

At the end of March all of my family got together to celebrate my big brother's 40th birthday. These cute cousins had a blast together! We walked to this park from my Mom's house and it put Kayla right to sleep. Here's proof that she was there while the other cousins played!

And then we took another walk later in the day. This time Bella stayed at the house for a nap.

If you haven't noticed, I love it when Kayla is matching her cousins… Haha.

Spinning. Kayla loves to spin in circles and normally says "wee wee wee" as she does it. So cute!

Trying out a newer park in Katy, Exploration Park. Everyone had a blast!

Again, Bella stayed at the house to sleep, but she also got to go to this park earlier in the week.

Love this cute little, but growing, family of mine!

The week before my brother's party was spring break for all the cousins. So Kayla and I actually hitched a ride with my sister and her family on their way to Katy a few days earlier than Jacob. When he drove down, he came in Ruby. I'll admit it wasn't terrible, but I did have to make it clear to him that being pregnant, I would have much preferred the comfort of one of the other vehicles… He was happy though, so I tried to put on a smile. Lol. The wind was crazy after church on Sunday, but here's a cute/crazy haired picture of Him, Kayla, and Ruby(the red car).

And one of us. Love this guy, antics and all!

The next weekend we met up with Jacob's oldest sister and her family to go camping. Meridan State Park. It was beautiful!! The weather was actually kind of perfect. And the park had bluebonnets all over. We barely even explored. So we definitely want to go back and explore more. But maybe after the summer… Yesterday I stepped outside and decided the only way I can survive the rest of the summer and being pregnant is if I'm in the A/C the whole time… Sad but true. It's nasty hot already!!

Kayla and I went on a short walk to find some cute places to take bluebonnet pictures. They were seriously everywhere. I love spring in Texas!!

Jane and Kayla. These cute cousins are just under 6 months apart.

The evening we got home from camping was the General Women's Broadcast for our church. I went to it with my Mother in law, Janice, and my sister in law, Gina. Shortly after it started, Jacob sent me this cute picture of Kayla. Apparently they went to the local airport and as they were admiring one of the planes, the owner told them to put Kayla in it and take a picture. Kind of random since I didn't even know they went, but totally adorable!!!

With Gina and Janice after the conference. The conference is bi-annual and over the past few years we've made it a little tradition to go together. Sadly, Gina and Stephen moved up to New Mexico in May, so I made sure we took one last picture of us all together (at least, all of us living here and going together. I'm sure we'll find our way there together again).

Our family, Easter 2016.

Baby #2

I feel like I kept this a "secret" for a really long time. At least from social media. We found out right at the beginning of January, and didn't "announce" (on social media) until May. We've been telling people in person since February, though.  Funny story… Christmas day, we found out that Jacob's sister was pregnant. A few days later, we found out our sister in law was pregnant (His brother's wife). Both due the same week in July. And then a few days later, we both KNEW I was pregnant. I don't know how else to explain it, but we both knew it. It took over a week to get a positive test. I was in shock for a while. Haha. But we are so excited for this new addition. I like to think Kayla is excited too. She's really sweet to my belly. Rubs it, and gives it kisses. And she's the sweetest thing to her dolls and stuffed animals. I'm going to take that as a good sign that she's excited to be a big sister. Haha. Just a few pictures. Now I can include the pregnancy in my future posts… I left it out in my Jan & Feb posts ;)

Even though we knew I was pregnant before I ever took a test, I was in total denial...

So I took another one, although neither were obvious, I think I was still testing too early, but they both meant I was for sure pregnant.

Before Kayla, I loved all things spicy. My pregnancy with her calmed me down. Even after she was born, I just didn't crave the spice like I used to. That was one of the reasons we knew I was pregnant. I went through a bottle of hot sauce in less than a week...

I decided to take some big sister pictures when I took some of her first birthday ones.

The first trimester was pretty rough. I spent it laying on the couch. Kayla didn't mind too much, because she got to watch lots of PBS. I kept hoping as soon as the 1st trimester was over that I'd feel better, unfortunately it took a while longer. I've just accepted that fact that I will never enjoy being pregnant. I almost feel bad. But it's hard! And at this rate I've come to the conclusion that it only gets harder each time. (But I'd like to get through this pregnancy & labor before I start thing about the next one. Haha) Now that the constant nausea is gone, I have zero energy. I have no doubt that all of this is more than worth it. But it's been a struggle. I seriously admire those I know that have made it through this. So thanks for being an inspiration Mommas, seriously!

February 2016

This is one of Kayla's favorite places to sit at Grandma's house. She is so close to saying Grandma. Every once in a while she'll say am-ma. It's pretty cute. She also likes sitting on the step that's at the entrance of this room. But anytime I pull out my phone to take a picture, she sees me and comes running.

The weekend of Valentines, we went camping with some friends. We went to Sam Houston National Forest. Jacob was pretty stoked to finally get to try out the hammock that his brother gave him. Last August, I helped my Mother in law watch my niece and nephew while their parents were in Nicaragua for a week, when they came home this was a gift that they had brought back for us.

Kayla was so happy to just sit on the ground and play with leaves and get dirty. Which I'll admit was hard for me to stand by and watch. Haha. But she had fun, and she got a good bath when we went home :)

When we got back in town, we got to see Jacob's sister and her family briefly. Jane and Kayla are about 5&1/2 months apart. (Kayla is younger)

Bella's daycare was closed on President's day, and we were more than happy to have her come and play with us all day!

Kayla was so giddy riding in the shopping cart and Bella's car. It was the cutest thing ever. I had to joke with my brother though, that this is what we have to look forward to when Bella starts driving. Haha. It was so fun to watch her drive the two of them around the culdesac!

Jacob turned 25 this month. It was just an excuse for me to spoil him ;)
He woke up to cinnamon rolls with the orange glaze on top. And this "25 reasons why I love you" sign in the bathroom.

For lunch we met up with him at Double Daves and had pizza rolls. Mmm, so good!!
For dinner I made John Wayne Cassarole, a favorite of ours! And dessert was dump cake and blue bell ice cream :)

A lot of people think that Kayla is so cute an innocent, which most the time she is. And then there's her tantrums… Pretty sure all I did was tell her to stay out of the kitchen cabinets as she was making her way to them, and she melted down. Lol…?

Hanging out in Katy with Grandma!

Kayla after a playdate… I love it! Lol.

Most the time when Kayla wakes up, she's pretty happy so I just let her play in her crib. She has a few stuffed animals in there. Normally I can just hear her laugh and squeal and be super cute. Well this time she decided to mess with the stuff on the wall. Apparently, she's tall enough to do that. Well the big K fell down :( Fortunately she was standing in the corner and was untouched, because that would have really hurt her. Now the frame and the K are no longer there...

There is no doubt that she is her father's daughter. Daddy brought home a carburetor one night and she immediately walked over and started to try to pick it up and play with it. I'll admit it was pretty cute.

Hanging out at the park with some friends and the ducks! Actually the highlight was when she got to pet a dog.
She knows her animal noises. And I really need to record it. Kitty-cat, puppy, and monkey. And she loves when we do elephant, but she can't do it. She also likes cow and sheep, but doesn't do those either.

So sad that my glasses were glaring :(

My favorite goof balls!!

Kayla loves doing big girl things, like walking in the parking lot with Mommy.

I finally got sick enough of her pulling things out of this little cabinet that I turned it to the side. She's trying to open the door, and obviously not being very successful. It was actually pretty funny. Lol.
