July 2018

Remember those cookies from my last post? This time Wilson got to them. He likes to grab the chairs from this little table and use them to get things from the kitchen counter. If we get a drink and leave it on the counter over night... we'll wake up the next morning and he'll come in to our room and say with a big smile on his face "I drink dr. pepper" So cute and sooooo mischievous! Lol. Anyways... a few bites out of each cookie and he was pretty content with himself ;)

Again with the chair... this time in the pantry to get the goldfish. Haha.

Still not feeling great so we took him to the doctor.

Did I mention she loves to dress up? Haha. Elsa headband, superhero cape that Grandma McConnell made, lots of necklaces, a purse, and a bunny puppet from Grandma McConnell. And she's so excited about her blue tongue. She must have had a lollipop. Lol.

Decided to go see the alligators at Bass Pro Shop. They love going!

Quick family pic and proof of mom.

Love him <3

The kids favorite thing to do at the Boardwalk is watch the water at this little pond!

We did a few little fireworks with the kids for 4th of July. Kayla was acting like she wasn't feeling very good, so we weren't out there long. When I could tell they were done, I took them in to take a bath and go to bed.

And I noticed Wilson had a rash all over :( So I called the nurse line and she told me to stop the medicine he had gotten a few days before (antibiotic and Motrin) and go to urgent care in the morning. That was his first time taking both medicines (I normally give him Tylenol but the doctor had recommended Motrin so I thought I'd try it), so I have no idea what he had a reaction to. But we got a different antibiotic the next day and he started to get better. Kayla also ended up having to be put on antibiotics a day or two later.

Already feeling better! So happy to play in the rain :)

Wilson strikes again with the chair....

I put the kids to bed, and they were still pretty rowdy for a while. They finally quieted down so I thought all was good. And then a few minutes later, Kayla calls out to me... "Momm... can you please come put Wilson's diaper back on". Lol. I walked in to this ^^^ Thankfully he didn't pee.

A conversation between Jacob and I the next day. Haha.

Sad this picture is messed up... had to document though. It had been rough week or so with the kids taking turns being sick. Jacob decided to take us on a spontaneous mini road trip. We ended up going to Texarkana. It's about an hour away. And you have to drive through to tip of Arkansas to get up there. That stretch of Arkansas is beautiful by the way! We've been meaning to head up to Hot Springs and I can't wait until we do! Anyways, the kids slept the way there and so Jacob and I just got to sit and talk as we drove. It was really nice.  We grabbed some dinner when we got there.

We went to Steak n Shake. None of us had ever been. It was really good! And even better is both kids ate ALL of their food. That never happens! And I hate spending money on food they don't eat. We all left so happy (definitely a refresher I needed). So worth it!

A few days later, we went to check out a little festival about 45 minutes south of town. The kids loved  seeing the firemen and taking turns "driving" the firetruck. They both got these hats and were obsessed with them! They got to bounce on bounce houses and they got snow cones! The kids were in heaven! Haha. There was supposed to be a firework show too, but it ended up raining pretty hard, so we left early.

My sister sent this to me <3
"My favorite cousin is Wilson. He is one year old. He loves soccer. He loves to dribble my soccer ball. He also likes to bounce it. His favorite word is 'dada'. He lives in Louisiana. He is very very playful. He is very cute. I love Wilson. He is my favorite cousin."

Kayla loves to play on the playground at Chick-Fil-A. Wilson has had to overcome some anxiety with it though. He was not liking other kids. (It's taken a few months, but he handles it so much better now.) One day, we were there with friends. I knew he was on the playground and I could see his legs, so I thought he was fine. A few minutes later a lady walked out and said "umm... there's a little boy in here who's been crying for Mommy for a while". I felt awful. He avoided going on the playground for a while and would just hang out between me and the door ^^ Thankfully he's grown... faced fears... not exactly sure... but he will go play now. Or at least sit up in the car by himself and drive. As long as other kids leave him alone though. Lol.

Still obsessed with their cute little firefighter hats.

SO good! And so glad we still have bluebell and whataburger. And HEB is only 45 minutes away. I totally take a grocery shopping trip there once or twice a month. Half the time I've been able to do it coming back from Texas... but even if I make a trip just to go, it's worth it. Food and tax are cheaper in Texas!

My cute little moo cows <3

We love cow appreciation day!!

It fell on the same night as family night this year. We got to spin a wheel for free food and they had yummy cupcakes!

He was not happy to leave. Poor thing... so cute and so sad!

Wilson got a haircut!

Handsome boys! They look so much a like.

I waited 2&1/2 hours in this line with the kids for the pay your age day at Build a Bear. It was hot! And I was SO unprepared. I also thought we were way closer to the store than we actually were. So we turned around and left. Good thing... it started raining shortly after.

The kids got to see their favorite fountains though! Yay??

Look who came to visit us!!

Wilson was too excited to sleep with cousins in his room, so he ended up in our bed. Caught Jacob cuddling Wilson's stuffed Porg. Lol.

We got to check out a hot air balloon. (And we got free donuts!)

And we took cousins to story time!

Wilson loved playing in their suitcases. Haha.

Sweet cousins!

We took them to the museum on base too.

Wilson got a B52. He loves it!

And then we walked around and saw all the retired planes outside. We're standing in front of a B52, which is the plane that Jacob currently works on.

Tired kids! Lol!

Checking out a new restaurant with some friends

Remember that wheel we got to spin for free food? Between those and the cow calendar the kids and I got free lunch!!

Swimming with cousins in Katy

All entranced by the iPad ;P

Moved the kid's car seats next to each other... The love it and hate it. As do I when they go back and forth between being super sweet and fighting...

More swimming with cousins.

^^Wilson doesn't like pictures...

She really likes these goggles... She's still trying to figure them out though. Lol.

Wilson was a big fan of this slide!!

For some reason Kayla wasn't though. She's done it before. And she climbed up and sat at the top... and then decided to turn around and get off. I might have pushed her down at one point... I promise she likes it... I don't why she was being funny this day.

She loved playing in the water though!

My sweet little boy

Both my babies

Kayla and Papa Ruske

Cute kiddos playing so nice with each other. Grandma Ruske had given them some of those books where you press a button and it makes a sound. They were pressing the buttons and giggling after each one. It was so sweet.

I moved them back after too much fighting. Lol. Their dragons were kissing. Hahaha.

I bought the 3 frames on top before we left our duplex in the College Station. I finally hung them up and added the heart (a Christmas present to Kayla from cousin Corwin) and the CTR (a gift from Logan and Alyssa).

Jacob and I were in the living room and Wilson started fussing... Jacob walked in to this. Wilson tangled up in his toy. Lol.

Sweet cuddles!

Cute kids!!

We were having the missionaries over for dinner, but they needed picked up. Jacob took Kayla's car seat out of the truck so one of the elders wouldn't have to climb over it and sit between the two seats. Kayla really enjoyed sitting in it and watching the iPad before they got to our house. Haha.

I prefer to eat on the couch. It's a terrible habit and I'm trying to be better about sitting at the table... Obviously the kids notice though. I was distracted doing something and came to the living room to find Wilson had taken his food in there and was eating on the couch... Oops...

Watching the rain!

My cute little artist! I love watching her skills improve! She's doing so much better at coloring in the lines.

Kayla needed ALL of the sunglasses. Haha.

Wilson went to bed early and Kayla and I enjoyed some ice cream together

Ready for our road trip to Utah!! We decided to drive up to Dallas to night before we originally planned to leave, and stay at my sister's house for the night, to cut a few hours off of the next days trip.

I had been stressing so much about the car ride with the kids. They did so good considering they were stuck in their cars seats for 2-2&1/2 days there and again coming home.

Again... stopping at Buc-ee's is a must. We stopped again the next morning for gas at another one we were passing. Also, their BBQ sandwiches are SO DANG GOOD!!
