June 2013
A couple weeks ago we went to Katy for sweet Miss Henley's baby blessing. Still waiting on the pictures Jenny ;) But I do have a few randoms from the day before...
She was patiently waiting for Jacob to get to my place so we could get on the road to Katy, Me... waiting not so patiently ;)
Seriously how cute is my dog? :)
Jacob thought it was funny how she fell asleep.
Sweet baby girl
I love how much hair she has!
The plan was to take a couple pictures of Jacob and I so we could start up a FB event a get peoples addresses. But as soon as we pulled up it started sprinkling, and by the time we got in the house it started pouring... :( BUT it finally settled down and we got some good pictures after dinner. Notice my new layout. Hehe :) I really like how they turned out
And thanks to Jenny/Lauren we found a really cool way to keep track of all the addresses. Google Docs. I created a page that asks questions and when someone answers and submits them it saves it all on a document for me. So if you haven't done it yet and you'd like an invite click this link and answer the questions...
Sunday after the Blessing we went to the Seckinger's new house and had lunch and hung out. We went back to my parents for dinner... Dad's pizza, yum :)... and then Jacob and I headed back home. I sure do love visiting family!!
Jacob was so excited to find a '65 on the way home from church, my Dad even turned around so he could get out a take a picture. (Jacob drives a '66)
Leia even had a good time!
Thanks to all the rain that is. Haha.
And we had a beautiful view most of the way home :)
AND then a week and a half later I got to go to Katy again. This time to meet the newest (by a month) member of the family for the very first time.
Miss Isabella Diann Ruske
I had a great time swimming with this cutie
But I couldn't help but remember when it was this one. Baby Elizabeth... Can't believe it's been 5 years.
Fun facts: They're wearing the same suits. The same hats. It was the same pool. And they have the same middle name.
It was so fun meeting her.
Not to mention hanging out with my brother and Caitlin.
I can't wait for them to move back to Texas... and fingers crossed College Station ;)
Jacob has been wanting this chair since we saw it over a year ago. We saw it again a few months ago but all the stores we went to only has pink. I finally found a different color and was so excited to get it for him. I didn't keep it a surprise, but I lasted up until a few hours before I headed home. I sent him this picture to spoil it.
Needless to say, he was VERY happy :)
This was the first time Leia didn't come with me. She was so happy to see me when I got home. This is her "don't ever leave me again" face. Hehe.
Now for the perks of having a gardener near by... (aka Jacob's Dad)
yummy fresh zucchini :)
I knew you had to get the extra moisture out. What I didn't know was how that extra moisture was actually A TON of zucchini liquid. EVERYWHERE. I think Jacob purposely left that out all the times he begged me to make bread. Lol.
But I did it anyways
And it actually turned out very good!
I was even adventurous enough to make zucchini brownies. And I have to say they turned out to be my favorite!
Here's the bread recipe.
And here's the brownie recipe.
Oh and in case you're wondering...
87 more days until we're married!!!
Yay :)

May 2013
First of all, my puppy is huge!! She's now about 14 weeks old and she's getting bigger everyday! The top picture is the night we first got her, April 26th, and the bottom is a few days ago, June 2nd. I just want her to stay little!!
But on the bright side, today she got her last set of shots. That means we can take her on walks and play at the dog park. We are so excited. In fact the first thing I did when we got home from the vet was take her on a little walk. And it's pretty convenient having the dog park literally up the street from me.
And on the next note. WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO LIVE WHEN WE'RE MARRIED. I seriously cannot stress how happy I am for that. I think it was easy for Jacob to push off because he's with his parents until we're married, but my lease is up at the beginning of August. So I'm relieved that that's one less thing for me to worry about. AND its a duplex, so Leia can stay in the backyard. Which makes me especially excited after I came home to this last week...
Yupp, she DESTROYED my blinds. I will take some blame because I was leaving her out when I was at work. But she was doing so good. Now she goes in the kennel every time. And she does not like it. Lately she's been hiding at the bottom of the stairs before I leave. (She knows when I'm getting ready to leave)
On the 23rd we flew up to Utah. It was a very much overdue trip. We had been wanting to go just to go and see family. And this weekend happened to be his cousin's wedding so Jacob's parents were already going too. And a couple weeks before we left we found out it was going to be my cousin's homecoming weekend. So everything worked out perfectly!
Getting to the airport was another issue though. The night before we left my brother came and got the dog. And then Jacob and I stayed up pretty late packing and getting last minute things done. I think Jacob left my place around 12 or 1. And then he came back around 4:30 and we left to the Austin airport. We were both exhausted. Driving down 21 at 5 am it's almost pitch black, besides your headlights. That and you're going 75-80mph down a curvy highway. Not to mention we were cutting it close on our time. Basically I had my first panic attack. I get anxious about things, but I have never experienced an attack before. It was awful. I was in tears and I couldn't breath. But fortunately Jacob knows all the right things to tell me. And he calmed me down just in time. I was doing much better after our stop at Bucee's, about 30 minutes away from the airport. Seriously Bucee's is our favorite pitstop. I can't wait until the one in Waller opens up because it'll be on the way to my parent's house. Before we got back on the road Jacob said a prayer, and it seriously made all the difference. Because about 5 miles down the highway we hit a deadstop. Now we were both worried (but not in tears, thankfully!). We tried to take a detour but it barely put us 1/2 a mile further into the traffic. By this point it had probably been about 20 minutes of going nowhere and we were on the phone with the airlines making sure that if we missed this plane that we could still catch another. Fortunately around this time the police started directing traffic down a more effective detour just in front of us. Needless to say from there it was smooth sailing. We were still a little antsy. But we found easy parking, jumped on a shuttle, got through security, and made it to our gate just as they were letting us on the plane.
So happy we made the flight!!
The first thing we did when Jacob's sister Kristy picked us up, was go get some suits!!
Okay maybe it's a little tacky with the lime green shirt and flip flops, but I'm so glad he has some suits! (This was a wedding present from his parents) He got this one and a solid black one. They weren't able to get either of them done for the wedding (this was Thursday morning and the wedding was Saturday) But they did get the black pants done and he wore the jacket as is, then on Monday before we caught our plane back (much less dramatic takeoff BTW) we dropped it back off so they can finish both suits and then they'll mail them to us! After getting that out of the way we went and got some cafe rio!! So yummy!! No pic though ;) But I need to lookup all the recipes I have saved on pinterest for that barbacoa(sp?) and cilantro lime sauce so I can try to make it at home!
I will admit. I really want a serger now. After we got to Kristy's house and started talking and whatnot she introduced me to her serger. Not only that but she showed me how super easy it was. Particularly for a couple wedding projects I have. And I'll be completely honest, I'm pushing those off until I get a serger for myself. What's actually more surprising is how supportive Jacob is of me getting one. I'm so glad he supports my hobbies and even encourages them.
Later that night Jacob's brother Stephen came into town. We had dinner at the park and I had a great time playing with the girls. They are so cute. Emma is trying to grasp being married and everything and at one point she was saying something to me about Jacob and she called him my husband. I thought it was adorable. Even though he's not my husband yet, I sure can't wait until he is :)
Friday we hung out with my cousin Christian. He actually had just come home from serving 2 years in the Houston South-Spanish speaking mission. We never saw him while he was down here, but it was nice knowing how close he was. (In the first area his mission president lived about 15 minutes from my parents) And I'm so glad we were able to hang out with him! We had some lunch and then went and saw my grandparents.
Oh how much I love seeing these two!! My mom told me they talked to them after we got home and they were very impressed with Jacob. Yupp, I sure do have myself a keeper ;)
After that the 3 of us met back up with Kristy, Stephen, and Emma for a little bit of shopping. It was fun having Christian around with us too! And Jacob got new ties and new shoes to go with his new suits. I know he was excited. But really, the suits and shoes were something he really needed. That night Jacob's parents got into town late and then Saturday morning was the wedding.
We enjoyed the wedding so much. Although we didn't go to the sealing, everything else made us SO very excited for our own wedding in September!! And I really enjoyed getting to meet Jacob's family on his Mom's side. There are a lot of them! Seriously we are so happy we made it up there. Now for lots of pictures ;)
Reese LOVES shoes. She made me take mine off so she could wear them. It was adorable.
They did good waiting with us, but by this time they were very anxious to see their parents and kept asking for Daddy.
We loved the mountains!!
Waiting while they were doing pictures of the Bride and Groom.
He sure does like his new shoes.
Too cute of a picture to pass up!
3 & 1/2 months until it's our turn!!
The Draper Temple was so beautiful!
On the way to the luncheon she was sweet enough to share her sunglasses. She thought it was so funny! Haha.
The first thing that happened when everyone started arriving was all the kids picking these flowers from the tree. They were pretty though.
And then Emma handed her bouquet of them off to me.
The weather felt great. But we still got a little sun burnt.
After cutting the cake at the reception.
And their send off!
Sunday was my cousin's homecoming and we got to see a little bit of my side of the family.
Me and Grandpa
Aunt Renate
Uncle Bill and Omi
With Christian
With Christian, Uncle Ronnie, and Aunt Shauna (and Daniel's life-size cut out in the background, he is serving in Ghana, Africa)
My cousin Anneliese
Sunday night we had a little birthday dinner for Stephen since his birthday was a couple days away and we were all together.
A birthday hat and all!
And then we have Jacob photo bombing...
Monday before we left I tried some hot yoga with Kristy and Janice. I thought I'd enjoy it but soon after we got there I got really dizzy and then I was nauseous up until we got back and I showered and cooled off. But I hear it's like that for some people the first few times, so maybe I'll get it another shot. I mean I did feel sore from it for a day or two afterwards.
We landed in Austin around 6pm. Made another stop at Bucee's for some of their precooked chicken (stuffed with jalapeƱo cornbread, it's heavenly!!) and then drove to Katy to get our puppy.
We were so happy to see her, and her to see us!
We got back to town around midnight and then back to work for both of us the next morning.
Oh and a very momentous note... HEB now sells Whataburger Ketchup. SPICY KETCHUP.
And it sure went perfectly with our dinner last night!
